I was looking at that for the longest time at all angles and I don't think its possbile with my budjet. It's a simple PTO box that connects to the right hand side axle and mounts to the tranny (CD4E or the G5M-R, which is the mtx tranny that the escape uses).
But the hardest part would probably finding out a way to get rest of the 4x4 system under a Contour. I dont think there is enough ground clearance, unless you don't mind having a contour with the ground clearance of a 4x4!
Probably end looking something that that Porsche suv that just came out....
