Ok, I have an ATX so if I decided to finally swap engines I would have to get the Escape 3.0L correct? Since the Taurus doesnt use the CD4E auto trans. What issues with the water pump (electric or mechanical) would I have since it didnt come out til 2001?
Thanks

from my understanding you can use the taurus engine or the Escape engine. In fact I don't think anyone has ever used the escape engine for their 3L swap. Other more knowledgable people will be able to let you know for sure.

I also have a Mazda Tribute and it uses a CD4E ATX like my Contours. Main difference is the 3.0L 201 HP Duratec. I hope it is stronger because several folks here blew their final drive to pieces soon after the mod.

David Z. and I talked about an Escape 3.0 for my SVT, mainly because Escape used the CD4E. I'm pretty sure the water pump isn't an issue if you use the heads also. I ended up going to a Taurus engine and SHOshop to do the install. I recently heard that David is still contemplating a 3.0 Escape for his SVT.

Also, with the Escape 3.0L you could put on the Kenne Bell supercharger

On the Escape. It would not fit under the hood on a Contour.

It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.
