WTF how the hell could it take ANYONE that long to do
took me all of 5 minutes to take old one out and put the new one it... and that was with a quick test run to see all gauges were working correctly before I put the dash back together.

so does anybody actually have the combination i was looking for? at least a 4 cyl 5 speed with a tach?

A tach can be added in 1-1.5 hrs of easy DOIY work by
swapping the instr. cluster ($35-70 for one at
www.car-parts.com).

The leather wrapped steering wheel is about the same: less
time to install, more difficult to find.

I don't like the leather shift knob, so I didn't install
that

1 or 1.5 hours? I can swap out mine in 15 min.

"V6=higher initial cost, higher insurance, higher gas cost, probably higher repair costs too"

Actaully only a small amount of mark up on insurance and I have ssen V6 cars for only $200-500 more than a same year 4. I also only got 1-2 mpg less than a Z/ATX with my last V6 Tour. Repairs depend on car condition and the costs would be same for non-engine items like alterntor, struts, etc.

In looking at used Contour ads, it seems like most of the MTX cars were made in 1995-6, when Ford wanted to get some import owners to buy. After '98, seems like they just gave up and sold 99% ATX models (excluding SVT).

Only for year 2000, the Contour Zetec/MTX combo didn't exist. ('00 Mystique could get one though, finding one would be hard)
