i'm looking for a new car and would like a contour. i would really like a 4 cylinder for the fuel mileage and lower price, but i really want the sport package. is it possible to get both together? does anyone have this combination?
here's what i want
4 cylinder
five speed
sport package
ABS
i'm beginning to think i will never find a car that fits all these requirements. would it be easier to add all the parts that make up the sport package? tach, side skirts, alloy wheels... are rear disks, different seats and a stiffer suspension part of it too?

You can get all of those on the same car, but maybe not the sport package.

1997 GL Sport didn't come with ABS.
A blessing if you plan on doing any REAL driving.

so is that a no? could you get ABS on a '95-96 or '98+ (with the sport package)
by "real" driving i assume you mean track work. if that were the case i would get a V6. this will be my first "new" car out of college and want something cheap and fun that'll last me a while until i get a second car and this becomes a winter car. so ABS is a must

Umm, 97 sport here, and mine has abs  . ABS beats having to pump the brakes.
The sports package mainly means you could get a spoiler and a leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. oooo ahhhhh  ... along w/ the 15" alloy wheels and I think a tach.

Get what I have (good luck finding one) '98 Contour w/ Comfort/Touring package. All the nice stuff (leather, power seat/mirrors/windows, etc.) w/ a 5-spd. and no spoilers or side skirts to get in the way. P.S. I'm the only one in the registry that lists one, so either I have the only one, or others aren't aware that package existed.

Wrong, wrong, wrong! 
ABS was a stand alone option on ANY non-SVT Contour and Mystique from beginning to end. Also, only pre 98 Sport packages could be had with Zetec and V6 and they spoiler was stand alone option. After 1998, it includes V6 and spoiler.
I dare anyone to try to match the speed of an ABS system's pulses.

well, the tach and the side skirts were what i really wanted, the tach more so because that would probably be hardest to add later. i forgot about the leather wrapped wheel and knob. that would be important too.
so does anybody actually have the combination i was looking for? at least a 4 cyl 5 speed with a tach?
