This has happened to me a couple of times. The steering wheel would shake between 75 and 83 mph. THIS LAST TIME (2 DAYS AGO), my whole car body started to shake badly. Tires are balanced, and alignment is good. Took the car in for service and had the tires rotated. Each time it cured the problem. Now my steering wheel is fine at all speeds. Go figure! BTW, took a 300 mile trip with no problems; then suddenly the wheel shake described above started up. I did not remember hitting any large potholes or bumping any curbs. I really wish I knew what causes the shaking to suddenly happen, and how to cure it, other than having the tires rotated. I wonder if the 4-lug bolt pattern is too loose for our wheels. Hmmmmmm....?
