I have the bel 970LR and it has the longest range I can think of, probably on par with the valentine 1. It was $200 and includes a 3 year warranty but damn I wish I had the arrows that the valentine has.

Radar dectectors are very illegal in Ontario... so much so they have "Radar Deterctor" Detectors... basically they can detect if you have a radar detector... something like a 1000$ fine and they take your radar detector....

I've heard that before about law enforcement having radar detector dectectors but I'm not seeing how that is possible. Reason being is that I was under the impression that radar detectors are passive devices (i.e. not emitting RF). If they're not radiating anything then what are these radar detector detectors picking up?

Radar detectors DO emit a signal that can be detected (hence the FCC license number on them). The most popular "radar detector detector" is called VG-2. Many models of detectors offer "VG-2 detection" where they shut off when they detect the detector detector (confused yet?). I had one once with that "feature", but it falsed all them time and I always had it shut off. All the tests I've seen have shown that the VG-2 doesn't pick up the V1. Don't know much about the newer technology of detector detector.

im scared. i want to avoid geting a ticket or tickets. but i dont want to get a ticket for having the anti ticket device  ...anyway i live in ontario canada should i invest in a v1 or will i get caught and have to pay a huge ticket>>>

no cop is gonna bust me. cause i got the new trace busta,busta that will bust his trace busta. cause i got the brand new trace busta,busta,busta. And if anyone trys to bust my trace busta to the 3rd power. i got the trace busta gold edition and no one can bust that busta

After I posted my question, I did a little search on the net and foung the VG-2. So, to advertise some radar detectors as passive devices is obviously not a true statement.
