Looks nicely constructed, but I have a couple of questions.
Now I'm not knocking the product or idea, but I am going to ask pointed questions about functionality, then finish off with a recommendation.
Since you block off the area around the filter, what is the advantage over an SVT airbox that draws cold air from the fender?
The hole in the fender would be the maximum size hole that you could draw from and would be the most restricted point of the airflow path. A cold air line would just be a hose stuck through the same hole I take it and further reducing the area of the hole?
This isn't to say that it is bad since the stock SVT can make 200 HP off of the air through that hole. When I first put my 3L together I was able to hit 207wHP with the stock air filter box and a drop in K&N, but that was a 3L sucking air through it and it definitely improved it to go open air element.
I would say that it is an improvement over non-svt airboxes, and cold air is definitely better. The size of the chamber is bigger than the enclosed area of the svt airbox, so that is also better. But in the end at full throttle and high rpm it still draws air through the fender and it is still a restriction. Granted its cheaper than a new SVT airbox.
If you widen out that fender hole, then it will improve it I think.
