Hey Guys,

I'm thinking about improving my braking system. I have been contemplating just buying new low fade/low dust pads or buying pads and slotted rotors. I really just want to decrease the annoying black dust on my rims. I reseached EBC, Mintex, and KVR pads. Also do SS brake lines really help? Any suggestions? What are you guys using and how well do you like them? Thanks

Probably the lowest dusting brake pads commonly available at the moment are the Raybestos Quiet Stops. These are the ceramic based pads. NAPA and Car Quest also sell the same pads with their own label on them. From what I have read, they do not stop quite as well as semi metalic pads, but for most drivers the difference seems to be more theoretical than actual.

Personally, I don't think much of either slotted or drilled rotors. Don't do it to imporve braking, they really don't. They cause other problems though as the holes or slots are stress risers that are the originating points for cracking. They also make it more difficult to machine when the time comes. If you feel that you must have them for looks, just be aware of their limitations.

You may want to check out the rotors (pads too if you are looking for semi metalic) at BAT. www.batinc.net

Someone that posts here frequently can help you with Bendix, which is an exceptional street brake pad.

Neither Mintex or EBC pads are particularly low dust, but each has their loyal following for their performance.

Don't get KVR pads thats all I can say... They are not low dust at all (this might be because I have slotted rotors I donno) but they don't perform that well either they easly fade

The SS lines reduce compliance in your brakes' hydraulic system, transferring more of your pedal force to the caliper. Your braking can be more precisely controlled, and your pedal will feel less spongy.

I have the NAPA pads on the front. There is almost no dust, even if you are hard on the brakes. As mentioned above they do not stop as well as stock. When it is raining or temps lower than 30ish there is a pause before the car begins to slow. This happens no matter how hard you stomp on the pedal.

Exactly why I went with the Bendix Pads. Carbon metallic PFC's have the same problem. And from what those that have had some time on there Bendix pads, low dusting.
