yeah you know guys, we're all in here trying to get as much info on our cars as possible. and every now and then....people have questions. It sucks that everyone in here is not a damn mechanic and can DIY whatever the problem may be. Those guys need to take a break. Not Racer. All the @$$holes that wanted to go and jump all over him like flys on horse$#!+. These forums are here for a reason. To ask questions and get info about our cars. Keep on asking questions Racer

I understand why he was jumped all over. I own both cars and its frustrating as hell to be asked this question. Why? If you know ANYTHING about either engine all you have to do is look under the hood.
1) the 3.0L Yamahammer is bigger than the 2.5L/3.0L V6. IIRC the Yamaha is a 90 degree V6 and the 2.5/3.0L is a 60.
2)with a LITTLE research you will find out they have completely different bell housing patterns.
Soooooooooo.........
maybe it was uncalled for, but I see why :-)
Hope your ok :-)

All this 'common person' has to do is use common sense and look at the two engines you get a pretty good idea. Otherwise, if you can't do that, you shouldn't ask those kinds of question. Well I know a fair bit, and have done absolutely nothing. Mostly due to the fact that I don't trust myself to get the job done perfectly first time.
I do however know that a "huge" engine will not fit in a "tiny" engine bay.
I also know that a "medium" sized engine will not fit in a "small" bay, and that a "small" engine isn't always compatible with a "large" engine bay.
It doesn't take much to realise that an engine type not used in the design of the bay & car in general will usally not work.
It is pretty obvious for instance that the 3.0L duratec has a chance of working in the the 2.5L housing, which is why it has been carried out.
It must also be pretty obvious from looking at an existing 2.5L bay, even a Zetec bay that much bigger is going to cause problems.
At this point I must admit that I was curious as to other engines tried, and I have posted this question recently too.
The issue here is not asking a question, but as to how a question is asked. Mine, asking if any alternative engines had been tried, was answered with jest and with seriousness. Suggesting that a quart fit into a pint pot, is obviously going to get you in s**t !
I can understand how and why this question was thought up, but it really doesn't take more than 10 minutes to save face and discover that not only is it not possible, but to learn why it is not possible. Not just by using the search feature, but by common sense too.
In the end, it's not what the question is, but why you ask it, that gets you either trouble, respect, or indifference.

Neither is proper grammar and spelling.
Sheesh. What's the world coming to. Don't answer that! What I see already scares me about what future we might have.

[rant]So.. if I am not smart enough to KNOW how to look up what I don't know.. then I shouldn't ask?
Seems to ME (call me crazy )
...that when I was in grade school, and you asked a teacher how to spell a word.. she would hand you a dictionary... and have you research it yourself... that's all GOOD.. IF you know how to use a dictionary.. if NOT... then you were screwed..
would the teacher ignore your request for help on using a dictionary, or just tell you that you probably shouldn't be writing if you don't know how to look up a word?
She may ignore your SPELLING question, but she'll not ignore your THEORY question...
Everyone is saying "do a LITTLE research... I tell you what... put two engines (a 60º and a 90º transverse on a block lift, and show 'em to me... I CANNOT tell you the difference, or which one, or even WHERE a bell housing is.. (or WHAT it is, for that matter... so.. just "simply looking" at the two enginges is NOT the viable option for an answer. Hell.. if it were THAT simple, I would have looked at everything in the car and known what I could do, mod, and swap.. but I don't.. and neither did he.. so....
If you don't wanna SHOW us the difference, at least explain the difference we are supposed to look for ourselves.. Thanks..

On a side note: I am glad I am surrounded by such a knowledgeable group of experts, even if I am not one of them..
