Bah, screw all those options. Get a Duratorq diesel from a euro mondeo and throw it in. Which is exactly what I'd like to do.

What about swappin the duratech v6 outta the Mazda6, its the same block and all but with 225hp...i am not sure about the specifics but first thoughts it shoudl work, of course you would need the trans and comp with it.

It's rated (over-rated IMO) at 220HP and has shown around 170-174FWHP/165-176FWTQ. LAME!!!

Not only would that be an utter waste of money, but you would have to figure out how to hook everything up (Intake, sensors, EGR, fuel rail, wiring harness, VVT, PCM, the list goes on!)

Fairly basic 3L hybrids have shown 175-180/175-180 at the wheels. Basic SVT 3L hybrids 195/185 range. SVT hybrid with 3L valves 205+/195+

Even a straight 3L swap with just SVT cams was ~195/180

I am not impressed at all with either the Jag or Mazda 3L. The do away with all the "supposed" bad areas on the Duratec design and both have Variable Valve timing and are very weak on power output! What a major let down.

2000 SVT #674 13.47 @ 102 - All Motor! It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.

Uhoh, is Mazda gonna have another hp embarassment like the Miata? First 155 hp, then re-rated at 142hp, costing them $500 per customer or full refund....

Ford seems to have a history of this...SVT Cobra from 1999 anybody?

how about taking a straight 3L swap and boring it out before you put it in? maybe with different cams and stuff too

The cast-in-place cylinder liners don't leave you much space to overbore the cylinders any appreciable amount in my opinion. The money would be better spent elsewhere.

That and if you look at the space between the cylinders, you'll know that there isn't much you can bore out.
