i put my dianostic obd11 computor on and read my actual temp. when the gauge gets to L it is reading 212 degrees and then the fans turn on for 30 seconds till it cools to 200 degrees. at this point, the gauge is at A and slowly climes to L and then the cycle repeats. sounds ok to me. all of this was done after a new thermostat, water wetter, flush and antifreeze change. alsolutly no change whatsoever in the gauge reading. waste of time and money.especially the water wetter. car still runs great but my customer called the local mercury dealer and he told her the cars were crap and suggested buying something else. guess what, she chose a 98 v6 contour because she heard these were great cars!!!!!!!! oh well, i win no matter which one she buys. laugh

Hey, my car runs around the A and L as well as most of the people here. The car is affected by temperature a lot. It "bucks" when I get off the gas. Especially when it is cold. My car also runs colder with the A/C on. Go figure. I don't know what to do. My car is getting a new engine this week. It will be done on Friday or Saturday! I am sooo happy. Maybe this engine will be different.

Sounds more like the mounts than the engine.

I've experimented and tried 6 different temp senders so far, all have read slightly differently. In my local fords we measured the resistance of over 20 senders and all were slightly different. so there is bound to be sone differences in guage positions

The guage is exponential so the further to the right you go the bigger the temp difference needs to be to drive it.

As long as you are not in the red then you are fine
