Ok i recently found out my muffler has a hole in it and needs to be replaced before my inspection. I plan on going ahead and up grading the muffler with a borla one. I have no idea what style. i want it to have a nice growl but no rasp or anything. Loud enough to be heard but not to loud but flow alot. Since i'm putting a new mufleri want new piping,. I'm gonna have the piping replaced from the flex pipe back taking out the resonator. i know 2 1/2 mandrel bent piping is the best but no one in my area can mandrel bend so i have to go with crush bent. So what size of crush bent piping should i use. All help is appreciated. thanks

Well 2 1/4" should be sufficient with having a few bolt ons (to maintain some backpressure-torque). Also removing the resonator will give you some rasp with an aftermarket muffler.

Like Loco said. 2.25 should be sufficient enough, unless you have big plans, i.e. Turbo, supercharger. And you should be happy with the sound that makes, and it shouldnt be to raspy. Suriel had his resonator taken out and replaced the rest of the piping and it wasnt raspy at all.

i'm planning on having a custom made exhaust made and possibly making it myself (i have a friend with a welder). It's gonna be similar to joe's. If i have someone else make it, it'll Y-off after muffler in res spot, if i make it, i was thinking a muffler w/ dual outlets, one running straight back and other with 45 degree bend piped out to left side of car, another 45 degree bend (pipe should be straight now) and out the back. how's all that sound?
