Your CD4E tranny POS that mazda built is nutralizing in overdrive. Your in for some MAJOR problems. when this happens there is only a couple of things that can cause it.
The overdrive clutches are scorched and or the clutches are burnt . Or your overdrive solinoid is going bad. If you have a substancial decrease in mpg then the problem most likely originated in yout torque converter. Either way you have an internal problem. the best advice i can give you it to have the tranney scanned for codes most places will do this for free. BUT be carefull, these transmission shops are all crooks. I hope for your sake im wrong but i dont think so im pretty familuar with transmissions. Good luch dude.
