Our military needs no more money? Go tell that to the lower enlisted soldiers with families who apply for food stamps and moonlight after working 12 hr days (with no overtime) on their military occupation. Yeah, they are so well paid it's scary.

I'd have to agree with Sandman here on this one. Military workers get paid jack squat unless they have a high rank.

yeah, no kidding. Gov't pay sucks. Military needs to DIVERT the funding they currently get towards helping out those than need it, ie lower ranking personnel. My friend who's getting an MD at USUHS (In Bethesda, MD) gets nearly 40K for being a STUDENT (granted a medical student), and he owes the navy 7yrs afterwards. . .seems werid he starts as an officer and there are guys there that work forever and barely make half of that. . .

sorry about lumping all of the Muslims together. . .it gets personnel, my parents are Hindu, as are my grandparents, who dealt with the separation of India/Pakistan, so they all have imbued this hatred towards Muslims in me, and of course EVERYTHING that goes on now just adds fuel. . .it's really the fanatics around the world+the mindless 1984ish trolls in Saddam's regime that deserve the scorn. . .

I agree. I got paid more wrking at Wal Mart than my friend did in the army as an airborne engineer.

If Iraq keeps making statements like that one, Bush is going to have one problem on his hands--ALL of America will want to go over there and do some damage to Hussein. WHY do countries issue statements like that in the face of such tragedy?? One the other hand, it is nice to see the Palestinians put aside their hostilities with Israel and offer condolences. Maybe there is hope after all for that situation....just maybe.

Even high ranking officers, relatively speaking are poorly paid. Sure relative to the lowest paid enlisted men they make a lot more money. But if you compare the salary of a Major General in charge of a 50K member division to the CEO of any company with 50K employees, add in the much greater responsibility for the lives of his soldiers and the importance of the mission and that general is underpaid.
I know it may not seem that way to a buck sergeant fire team leader, but trust me, officers are not getting rich in the military.
