Well lets see, I can tell you of entire universities with faculty that is either Vegetarian or Vegan. I myself am working on two Ph.Ds. Because you don't know any, doesn't mean that they aren't out there.

Yeah, and then they come up with wonderful ideas like that nutty professor EdwardC posted about wanting to abolish the white race. No thanks.

Um, this is all a bunch of crap... It gets me pretty worked up. It's propaganda, pure and simple.

I'm a vegetarian and I don't eat dairy or eggs either. That almost makes me a vegan. Vegans will not have anything to do with any animal product, including non-consumables like leather, etc.

Before I became a vegetarian, I was sick all the time. Now, it's a rare occurrence.

B12 is not that hard to get in lieu of animal products if you do a little planning.

I don't appreciate all the negativity -- knocking something you don't understand is pretty lame.

If you did any research into the meat industry and exactly what you were putting into your body, you wouldn't eat meat either. It's disgusting, horrifying, and just plain sick.

(Many) actors are vegans.

There are plenty of compelling reasons why someone might choose to go vegan. I couldn't count the above 2 as among them.

Heh, it was the exact opposite for my sister. She was a vegetarian for about 8 years, and for the last year or so it seemed like she was constantly sick. Then she started eating meat again, about 2 years ago, and hasn't been sick since.

Being a vegetarian doesn't make you healthy. It's way more than that. You can be a vegetarian and still eat poorly, having a basic lack of nutrition.

Plus, she probably was still eating dairy. One of the biggest lies being spread today is that dairy is good for you. It's not. It's meant for cows, not humans. The protein/fat ratios are all off for us. Here's a good resource: http://www.notmilk.com/. It's a little sensational, but there's some good info there.

There are three basic components to health:
-Diet
-Fitness
-Proper sleep/rest

If you're lacking any of the three, you aren't truly healthy.

Can you tell I'm into this?

Actually...

1. Urine is sterile.

2. Fat in decent amounts is known to be healthy.

3. Blood... ok, but, cooked to the correct temp, and bloodborne pathogens are killed.

Dr. Atkins actually supports eating meat, if you listen. The Atkins diet is based on low carb, more protein, which is backed by many health "gurus." Protein, in its most readily available form is in meat. As well as whey. Soy protein is decent and all, but, men should not take large quantities due to its chemcial similarities to estrogen. Look it up.

Personally, I eat meat. Why? Because I like it. I get off my butt and exert myself. As much as I should? No, but, I'm getting better.

I was sick all the time when I didn't eat meat. In fact, pork, in particular (also very fatty) is what got my intestinal disorder under control years ago.

I do have to agree with some things that have been said. On both sides. But, humans are omnivores. We're not meant to eat one or the other. We're designed to ingest both meat (red or white) as well as veggies (grains and otherwise). Don't get me wrong- I may think that vegetarians are kinda crazy for not eating meat, but, I'll never force someone to eat a steak. I can't say the same for a lot of the vegetarians/vegans I've encountered in my life who've tried to "change my ways" because "it's for my own good."

Being a vegetarian is good if you do nothing physical or athletic all day. Example would be an office worker.
I know not of any body builders or read of any body builders that are vegetarian. Even if there are
athletes that are vegetarian it's only a small percentages an I'm sure they are the ones that don't
make the news or break any records. I'm not knocking "being vegetarian" and it's not a bad thing, without
meat it is 90% harder to gain any mussel mass without supplement. Fact of the matter is that it is better
to have a well rounded diet that "INCLUDE" all the food groups.

I can show one example to counter this-

Walter "Killer" Kowalski, of long-past World Wresting Federation history. Was in fantastic shape. Looked great. Exerted himself. Runs a wrestling school in Malden, which I'm seriously considering enrolling in.

He's a vegan, and damn proud of it.

Well, what about:

1. Hormones
2. Antibiotics
3. Adrenaline. Yes, adrenaline, and lots of it. You think the cows are calm when they are about to be killed?

Plus, consider that most cows a fed a grain-based diet, when grass is what they really need. Most cows are so unhealthy, they need the antibiotics they are given with their food.

Then, consider how many recalls their are on beef every year for E. Coli. Consider how many FDA violations their are each year at the processing plants.

And you want to put that in your body? Yuck.

Yeah, so I guess horses have a hard time building all that muscle because.... oh wait...

When you eat meat, you are just eating the products of a vegetarian diet. Cows don't eat meat. Why not go straight to the source?

It's very easy to get the proper protein in a vegetarian diet. Animals do it just fine. Your post is the typical misinformed view.
