the V8 SHO motor is a combination Ford/Yamaha. Yamaha worked on the topend.

Terry knows what he's saying when he says to drop the whole engine and subframe out to do this kind of work!

My engine was sitting on a jack close to the floor but still in the bay. Give you an idea the top of the bell housing was even with the top of the inner fender/ apron. Yeah my hands are not small either maybe you should try to find some dwarfs to work on your car. I shall call him turbo dwarf. muhaaaaa hahaa

Don't worry about it, it isn't the turbo manifolds that are so hard to install, it is the factory manifolds that are so hard to pull off. The msds headers are a little easier to pull off than the factory manifolds, but still a PITA. At least the alternator doesn't have to come off again.

Would have been quicker if the upper alternator bolt wasn't put on by some Ford moron using an impact wrench (I broke a ratchet and a socket getting it off ) That took a good 30 minutes alone. I was so pissed!
Mine has the large rear bracket so it had to be moved to get the manifold off.

All I can say is; "I swear by gearwrenches!" ...and I mean REAL ones... Not crappy imitations like the POS fat ones that Craftsman and others make.

what is a gearwrench? and what company makes good ones?

It is a combonation wrench that the boxed end works like a ratchet.

"GearWrench" is made by KD Tools

Actually the stock manifolds came off easy.
I had the motor hanging so low, so that you could see the starter motor through the wheel well! Like an angle of about 20°!

The problem is that the turbo manifols with 1 7/8" primaries are HUGE and so a couple of bolts allowed just and allen wrench to install them which takes a long time when you can only turn the bolt 1/8th of a turn at a time That's the price for power I guess...

Also I had to "massage" the primary tube adjacent to the alternator as both of them wanted to occupy the same place. An oxy-acetylene torch and a hammer and all is good now.
(I also wrapped that primary with insulation to protect the alternator)
I told StreetFlight about the inteference and they will remedy that in all their kits.

We have pics so I will try and get canamSVT (thanks Ed, for you help) to post them soon.
