Does anybody have any experience in removing the EGR valve in a 95 Zetec? I'm trying to check mine to see if it is clogged up, but I can't get to the bottom bolt that is attached to the metal pipe. Thanks in advanced.

What you need is called a ??crowfoot wrench?.  On the '96 Zetec, it's 22mm.  I have yet to see any place actually selling a 22mm crowfoot wrench (I've only seen metric sizes up to 19mm), but a 7/8" is close enough.

Yeah, that's pretty much the way that my luck runs. I'll try to find that 7/8's, thanks for the help.

I'm getting a CEL which usually comes on around 50mph and then stays on. The car stumbles or bucks while I try to maintain a certain speed. It's really noticeable in 1st and is almost undetectable in 5th, at least the passengers don't seem to mind. If I wasn't so damn broke, I would take it to a shop that is susposedly great at diagnosing CEL's, and not just read the code and replace a part. I'm talking about Pat Goss, he has a weekly radio show that I listen to quite often. http://www.patgosscarworld.com/carworld.htm
I just got the car about 4 months ago and it has had this problem ever since. I replaced the plugs, wires, filters, PVC valve (that was insane) and O2 sensor. And I also cleaned out the mass airflow sensor with O2 sensor friendly carb cleaner. I haven't read the CEL code yet ('95 EEC-IV), I was hoping that my tune-up would of caught the problem. I'll read it this weekend and get back to you. Thanks for the interest.

I know youve probably did it right but what kind of plugs did you use. I hade the same problem with my old 95 tour and it was because it needs platnium plugs and i didnt use them i had an auto in mine so i could feel it through every gear. and it set the CEL off. Just a thought.

Man, I try to use OEM parts just for this reason. Going off of memory, I think I used regular Autolite's because Autozone didn't have the platinum's in stock. At the time, I thought that I was luckly by not having to spend the extra bucks. I did go out of my way and order the Motorcraft wires, they were only a couple bucks more than the no-name crap, I just had to wait a couple of days. After the "tune up", the CEL characteristics did change and I didn't clearly remember the stumbling before I messed with it. I had just gotten the car, so I just thought that it was there from the beginning. I'll check/change the plugs this weekend and get back to you. Thanks for the reply.
