I don't have any rear speakers in my car, or my g/f's Focus. Don't ever need them. Until the day I begin to watch movies on the road with 5.1 surround.. that's when I'll be putting rear speakers in. Not in the doors though, rather the package tray. But when will i begin to watch movies on the road?

I'm not exactly sure I followed. There is very little music recorded in any surround format. To use it requires special processors. If you don't have those processors, the speakers in back will not give you the surround sound effect. Besides, the point of surroud sound is not to put you in the middle of the band on stage. It's to try to recreate the reflections of sound and increase the ambience of the recording.

Yeah.. what he said.

Actually, DTS is trying to help 5.1 (not 6.1) get into the car audio scene. They worked with USACi to develop a competition based on a 5.1 system. Again, the point of 5.1 is only to get the appropriate sonic reflections of a room to come from their appropriate direction. It is not to make you one of the performers on the stage itself. The problem is that there is very little music publicly available that was recorded with true 5.1 mic placements and even fewer still that sound good.

Beyond that, there aren't any CD-only players that I know of that can provide a 5.1 signal to an outboard processor, let alone do the processing itself.

Oh, and since you're so curious about what to use for your surround sound system, answer me this: what are you going to use for your front center channel? And more importantly, where are you going to put it?

I think we're still a little ways away from true multi-channel surround systems being done on a regular basis in the car. Until then, just give me my 2 channel system with all the speakers in front of me. When done correctly, it can still make you feel like you're really at the performance.

no 6.1, thats odd, why do computers supports 6.1 surround sound

I think what he is trying to say is that there is no such thing as 6.1 surround for car stereos(there is barely any 5.1 systems at that).

I realize there isn't any 6.1 out for car stereo, but he was saying there was no such thing as 6.1 ss. and I was pointing out that there is. also bose stereo's are in the works with one. I saw some pictures in a catalog that i got from them. If I can get my scanner working, I will scan them.

I wasn't trying to say 6.1 doesn't exist, because I have seen it (and even 7.1) for the home. But for the car, only 5.1 has been promoted. If you think about it a little, it makes sense that 6.1 would not be pushed for the car too much because what good does it do to have 3 speakers across the rear deck with only 6 inches between them? kinda silly if you think about it.

lol, i don't know to much about it. I have 2.1 on my comp and 6.1 to my tv. Sounds great, but it should be in a bigger room. Like when I move out lol. Seemed like you were saying no 6.1 its 5.1, and i was like huh... lol its cool thought, just a misunderstanding.

BOSTON ACOUSTICS you can never go wrong with them!!! they have three kinds of prices.

Cheaper and still nice SQ, JBL, Infinity,

If you have a sub in the trunk go with the door speakers.

I nice option are the systems because you can place the tweeter in a higher position to enhance back scenario, and in some cases like Boston Acoustics have different types of mountings angle, surface, flush.

Agree the most important part of the system MUST be in the front.

Disagree,

Why? because when you go to a concert hall you will always have a back scenario effect!!

I used the amp's crossovers to only run highs to the front 6x9s, and then bridged the rear channel for the sub and run the lows to it. Then I let the Kenwood headunit run the rear speakers...kind of a filler, if you will. I really like the way it sounds, but if I had it all to do again, I would do components.

UPDATE YOUR SITE! What's up man? did you put the 8" in that little round opening up there? If so where did you mount your amp rack?

P.S. I'm starting to miss my 15" wheels...
