I donā??t think the RWD advantage is that great with an open diff. On my SVT I always thought the stock diff did a good job of putting power to both wheels at the strip (consistent 2.2 sixty). Open diff V6 stangs tend to smoke one tire and the other is just along for the ride.

This all goes out the window if the V6 has the ā??Pony Packageā?. The fake GT hood scoop adds at least 30HP

Well, first, the RWD advantage has a lot to do with weight transfer onto the driven wheels. And this helps on an open diff as well as a limited slip diff (though obviously the LSD is gonna help more)

Fwiw, a good friend of mine has a V6 Mustang well into the 12's . . .

All BS aside, I gotta agree with Burgman on this one. I was there the day he put down that 13.95 (Silver Dollar Raceway in BFE Georgia), in fact I was rep'in the contour group by blowin my diff and grenading my tranny! Not to say that it can't be beat, but the mustang (especially a GT/Cobra/Bullet/whatever else) is designed to be a stip car and the contour is not. Rather simple really.

That's funny Jason, somebody mentions mustangs and you show up out of thin air?

I must say too...My car is basicaly stock and I have a hell of a time trying to even keep up with them in the stright line, turns...thats another story...>can you say SEE YA!

But seriously, atleast here in CA, the GT's here are 280HP (I just came back formt the ford dealer looking for a stage 3 roush) so they can defintly kick my but..but autos seem a little easier to keep uo with.

Now old School GT's like 1996 to 1998 I can keep up with. some I can beat.

I have a GT thoughā?¦ This is V6 stang vs. SVT. I hear the launch advantage argument, but Iā??m still gonna put my Money on the tour from what I have seen.

Thanks, this kid in my dorm was talking all this crap about my car before i gave him a ride and then after riding in it he was like I don't think that we should race. I was just wondering who would win if we ever did decide to.

I have my stock wheels still that I will use when I race as soon as i get some tires. But I have raced 2 other SVT's with the 18s and the subs and haven't had a problem with them.

I'll tell you what, traction is your advantage and my disadvantage. I can't continue with the what-ifs because it proves nothing, but you have to realize that you are going to get better take-offs with fatter tires and rear wheel drive and it will net you a better time period. I have to admit that I don't know how good the drivers were that were involved, and against you I may lose. Sorry if that hurts your ego to hear that there are shitty mustang drivers out there that dont driver their GT's to its fullest potential. Nothing personal.

Given a bad driver I believe in could happen. Just defending the GT name and of course nothing personal. I have respect for anybody that can get a tour into the 14ā??s.

Here is a 1/8 mile race between a 15.00 second tour and my car with 300 miles on it and 250 seat time for me. I had no idea how to launch it, so I just side-stepped the clutch at 2500 rpm. BTW he traded the tour for a GT
