Has anyone raced or know how a SVT would do against a 2000 mustang V6?

Manual or Auto?

Manual: I would say a drivers race...the launch will be all stang, with the SVT pulling at the top end.

Auto: Its all SVT.

I remember a while back, MM&FF had a V6 manual stang with exhaust and filter in the high 14's. Although they seem to have some pretty good drivers looking at all the times they are able to get out the cars they test.

Me Neither! And I haven't lost to any 2000+ convertible GT's either. Hell, I'll pretty much tie a 2000+ non-convertible GT right now.

My money is on the SVT. Plus the SVT is so much cooler than a pusstang. Whatâ??s the point of buying a Mustang if it donâ??t have a friggin V8? The 6 doesnâ??t have a LSD rear-end, so the RWD advantage is basically null. The â??guysâ?ť that bringâ??em to the track and can stand the group shun that occurs run 16â??s

Purely bench racing, I think it would be a drivers race. I see no problem getting a stock V6 5 spd(newer 190 horse ones ) into the low 15's with a good driver. Most SVT's on this site run low 15's. That is pretty close, with a slight edge to the SVT.

Even if the V6 doesn't have a LSD, it still has a huge traction advantage due to the laws of physics (weight transfer). Come to think of it, An SVT doesn't have an LSD either.

I hold to my guns that it would be a close race.

Warmonger, not calling BS on you but you must be racing some pretty lame GT's...or drivers. The new GT's stock run about 14 flat, 14.4 w/ auto. My freind has an auto with I/E and he runs 14.2-14.3.

Just adding fuel to the debate

With most of the time made on the top end and outweighing the Mustang even.

I definitely understand the bang for the buck lure of a rustang, but they are just so damn common. Just like assholes; everybody has one...

I bet Tom will gladly race you here in about a month. (Even from a dead stop.) Better have your toilet paper handy... From a roll you will be nothing but a distant memory.

...or take it to an autocross and I'll gladly oblige you.

They are very common, but that donâ??t make them any less quick.

Why you got to turn this into Burg vs. Tom?
If Tom puts down a good time he can talk all the smack he wants. The point to my previous post is you need to run faster than a 14.8 to talk smack about a 99+ GT. Even if Tom beats my slow stock GTâ?¦ there are about 579 million GTâ??s (by my last count ) that will spank him, because they are so common and commonly highly modified.

Ainâ??t Scared. Too bad we live about 1000 miles apart
