I just got back from my local Pennsylvania Autozone.
They only do 96'or newer models. Their suggestion was to take her to my local garage for "THE TEST" about 30 bucks.
I have saved the codes from past posts. Are the codes
universal. My local garage mechanic asked if the check engine light is on. My reply: "IT'S BEEN ON SINCE I BOUGHT
IT" which it has. Trip after Trip to the ford garage I just
gave up. so anyway autozone can't help I don't think i want to do the check myself. I guess I'm headed to the garage tomorrow. I'll let everyone know then.

I saw Ford OBD-I scanners at Checker for about $35. Granted, they aren't the best things in the world, but it would be a start.

Yeah, the 95s are the older OBD1 computer and some places don't have the old style scanners. You could put a jumper or paperclip in the diagnostic connector to get your codes by counting the flashes of the CE light. Another store might have an OBD1 scanner?

I believe Wal-Mart sells one for about $25-30.

click here for how to get the codes from a 95 computer. It is really straight forward. YOu have to jump I think is the memory port to the larger plug and give it power from the battery. you use a test light to read the codes or I noticed last time the check engine light turns on and blinks the codes also. A list of the codes are on that page also in a link.

I had some fuse taps, they go onto a fuse to allow you a spade connections to draw power and a wire with clips on the end. I also used the test light

*Sigh* Why does Autozone have to ruin such a good program with pure incompetence in the stores?

I don't recall hearing their commercials say "Is your check engine light on in your 1996 or newer car? Then get in the Zone and have it scanned while you are picking up your favorite APC part for your car."

I wish NAPA would remove cranium from buttocks and make a commitment to retail sales by implementing the same program.

It's not the scanners, it's the cables. Every mfg. had different plugs and cables until OBD II hit the scene in 96.

autozone seems to act like they can do 95s when i take mine in. they go trying to look under the hood for the connection when i go in. and i think they must have scanners to do both at my local autozone. it's fun though when i get to say, the connectors right here and i know what that code is (because I've been waiting over 3 months to fix it ).
