Ok guys, we've got the race track, its going to cost a bit but i want a verification before i sign anything.

Two questions here
1. is everyone cool with $65 for the whole convention (this includes, t-shirts, trophys for the show, entry to the show, race track rental, food, and banquet)

2. Who will be racing at mam.. What we're getting is a 'school day' its instruction and race time, all sorts of good stuff. It's thursday, the 15th, the first day of the event from 7am to 6pm.

Racing?
Yeah, i'll race and attend the schools!
Nope, but i want to go to the track and maybe listen in on the schools and spectate
Not going to the race track

I'm not familiar with MAM, maybe it's been described before, but is this a road course, drag racing, a go-kart track or what?

Put me down for a provisional heck yeah $65 for all of that is a pretty sweet deal, if it includes a day of track time on a road course.

Man, $65 is a deal!

Now that the track is secured, we're seriously contemplating coming out for this!

change your oil, new oil filter, check your atx fluid, a few bottles of mt dew, rotate tires and check air pressure... (keeping it on the high side of manufacturers recommendations usually yields better highway gas mileage iirc) 20 hours aint bad leave tuesday, stop somewhere tuesday night get here weds and check in... or get here thurs morning at 7am!

Still not sure if I'll be able to come, I'd really like to but have to wait another month or so to see how the finances look. if I do come though, I am definitely game for a school day at MAM, that woudl be sweet! And $65 for the who deal sounds like a great price to me.

One question though, what's the situation as far as helmets go at MAM? is it bring your own or do they have some for use? and if bring your own, what rating do they need to have?

100 people is optimistic for the track event I think as well. I won't be at the track if it's on Thursday . Prolly just be out Saturday for most of the day and that's it unless something spikes my interest higher for the other days. No drag racing = and is the only thing I was really missing from the other SZ events I've attended.

Matt, as an example for you, our local mustang club held and event at MAM last year and they were one of the only clubs that actually came out in the green or broke even on the whole deal. They had around 65 cars and that was one of the larger turnouts. 100 is WAAAAAAAY optimistic. You serisouly need to sit down with MAM and just say hey we want to come to an open track night, pay the $50 and go, will you have one tht thursday night?! If they won't commit, don't commit to buying a track day from them because you'll get stuck with the costs and you don't want that. Hell ya I want to run the road course, but I'll have fun no matter what.

Matt, roughly guessing we had about 40 people that went to the road course and ran last year at $50 a head. This was beyond what the cost of registration was so I think if you're trying to package it in the registration that might be a little optimistic. I'd say just get a separate paypal account going and those who want to road course can stick $50 in it and see where we are in 30 days, if you think you've got enough to justify it show it to MAM and see if they will take it for opening the track for an afternoon or something. Just my .02

I'm a brand new Contour SV owner in MI and as of know I'm planning on making the trip. So all of us Michiganders aren't bad.

Personally, I think the registration fee should be kept smaller by making expensive activities such as the road course a la carte. I don't know how much of the fee was going to be road course and how much was everything else, but I would rather see a $20 to $25 basic banquet fee and then $40 to $50 for the race event billed separately.

Would it be possible to get the road course as part of an evening open track or a later in the day event? Having people need to pony up for an additional night's hotel stay, and for many to take an additional day of vacation could be stretching the money/time budgets of people on the fence who would still like to race.

Of course, for me, it depends on how Ross is feeling by then (or if it seems too beautiful, so I have to take Rex, I'd rather not race him)...
