Are you just going to use the stock Y-pipe and cut it up?

What about flex joints?

$200 is a deal for 2 trapps!

That's cool on the piping & labor part, but he'll definitely be cursing you before it's over.

He better use flexes or he'll snap the exhaust manifold studs out of the head in no time.

I am not planning on using a y pipe. I am hopefully going to connect the duals straight to the headers. Maybe using flexpipes like you said.

I understand the reasoning for flexpipes but why do we need them now and never used them before. I don't remember puting flexpipes on the mustang, t-bird, or fairlane. I thought it just bolted straight onto the header.

Warmonger, I heard you were selling your headers. Is this true. How much and why?

You don't need flexes on a RWD car as the twist in the engine (on launch) doesn't BEND the pipes longitudinally, it just rotates the piping in the hangers.

The FWD layout of our engine causes HUGE twist on launch etc, so it tries to bend the pipes. Hence why flexes are needed. Why on earth do you think they are there in the first place, cos car companies like throwing away money on unnecessary items? NO!

Listen to good advice, or pay the price!

You were warned. Besides, 2" flexes are like $30 a pop. It's brain damage.

Well, I never said I wouldn't use them. I just thought they were used to get around wierd turns or corners.

I appreciate all the advice and I will definately be using them. Now, let me ask another question.

Would connecting the flex pipes straight to the header itself be ok or should I put them farther down?

I know I am asking alot of questions I just want to do this right the first time.

Joker-

How do you plan on making the multiple bends from the front header around the oil pan and back?

Also you would need to weld spherical flanges onto both downpipes in order to hook them to the headers.

This is why I asked if you were cutting up the stock or an aftermarket Y-pipe.

You put the flex joints after the down pipes. Make sure not to use the smallest size or CHEAP ones! They will tear apart.

I planned on connecting the spherical flanges on the ends of the downpipes just like anastazi has done.

The design would be similar to the y. I just won't have the y in there. I guess I could cut the y pipe and I would probably get the same effect and it would be cheaper, but I want to hold on to the stock setup in case I don't like this one.

What about the x. How did you know where to connect it? I have heard that if you don't connect them in the right place they can make you lose hp. How did it do for you?

Any thoughts on resonators? Yea or nea?

Oh, check this out. I actually just got the bill for the supertrapps. $60.00 each + S/H.
OHHHH YEAH!!!

I hope you got these through connections because if you think that is the retail price for a full supertrapp muffler you are going to be very upset! I almost made the same mistake when I was

Correct Supertrapps (ones that actually do a small bit of muffling) from Summit run around $150.

They are the real deal. I bought them through a company that wholesales them straight from supertrapp themselves. I had emailed supertrapps about being a distributor and they gave me the name of their wholesaler.
