I bought my car at Kip Killmon's in Tyson's Corner, VA. I did not like the look of the service area but I never went back there for service so I have no clue how it is for service.

The reason I ask is because my Mystique broke down on the beltway while I was on my way to work... It was closer to bring it there then to bring it home... So I had it towed there... I have the premium care warranty on my car so I was like whatever... anyway they hooked me up with a rental car and I was off... The next day I called and they told me I needed a new motor (Spun Bearing & #6 connector rod broke loose) and that the warranty inspector was going to come out to authorizethe job... At no time did anybody at Kip Killman's tell me my car was low on oil and I just checked it that morning with my fill up and it was a little under full but I had driven the car like 6 miles to the gas station... Well the inspector came and said that the damage was caused because the oil filter was put on wrong and the car's oil had leaked out... Long&Short they aren't going to cover the repair and they said I should go to the place where I got my oil changed... I find all of this very suspicious... 1) Because nobody a Kip Killman's that diagnosed the problem mentioned that my oil level was low 2)When I talked with the service advisor I mentioned to him that I had heard it was pretty common for the 2.5l Duratec to go down due to "Spun Bearings" He replied " Well it's definitely not uncommon" 3) My last oil change was about 2700 mile ago in October and I figure that something would have occurred b4 this if the oil filter was on wrong like I would have seen an oil light go on when I was getting low on oil hmmmmmm very suspicious to me. What does everyone think???

I would try to get in contact with some of these people. Be relentless. http://www.blueovalnews.com/contacts/If it turns out that nothing will work, I think you can cancel your extended service plan and Ford will have to give you at least some of the money back. Don't give up. If your case is legitimate, fight!

and if there is no way it'll be covered under warranty, have the car towed to a non-Ford shop to have the work done and don't pay any BS dealer charges.

Thanks for the replies... Motorcity thanx for the link I think I will call/write/both one of those regional managers as well as one of the warranty people... I called the number my regular dealer gave me for the warranty services customer service line and they told me that in the end they would have to support the dealers decision... that to me me really seems like customer service
Thanks Again

insurance people are crooked, so are car dealers.

The problem is waaay too common and the dealers all know about it - I think they're trying to screw you over because of your extended warranty. Fight 'em!!!

Cubic, was TH and his services comprable in price and quality as the dealership? I know it's a stupid question... but if I am going to be paying fo rmy own replacement I might as well consider all of my options... Thanx again I saw that you replied to my "general" post... thanx it's a tough time for me
