Question. YES THIS IS GOING TO BE ON A TRACK.

my car, 1998.5 SE 4 CYL ATX , Header , 2" Exhaust full, Chip, Intake, NO A/C , no tire and junk, vs a 1997 V6 ATX Mustang Convertable , with 2 12's, 2 10's amps and junk.

who's gunna win?

I would say the mustang. If you had a MTX it would be pretty close.

i thought , even with the mustangs whopping 150hp, *woo* and it's like 3300+ weight not to mention ATX vs my little 3000lb or under car with it's "150" hp, would take it :/

my friends 2000 atx v6 200hp killed me. from a dead stop, the mustand will stomp you, it's doesn't way much more than a 'tour and has much more power. you may have 160hp at best with mods, so if the earlier stangs had less power maybe you have a chance. according to your times, then you should win, unless it really has 200hp like newer v6 mustangs.

it might be closer than you think. the verts wiegh more and the old v6s aren't anything to write home about. the deciding factor would be his amount of torque. I can't remember what the old ones have, but the new ones have a good amount.

200 hp? i thought the new ones were 180, and that the V6 firebirds and such had 200.

Naw...the '97 still ran the old 150-ish hp wheezer. If Wannabe's times are real, it orta be a halfway decent showdown.

The SPI motor wasn't introduced to the Stang until the '99 MY and new bodystyle. Seems to be a decent performer, but those 3.8's are simply miserable to live with if you care about anything other than torque.

Wannabe...is this happening at OSW tomorrow night (1/24)?

based on your times and that the 97s had less HP than v6 stangs that I've driven/raced, then you should beat him. new ones do have 200hp (maybe ~197hp, somewhere right around 200hp). I know they're nothing great, but I like to drive my friends', since I can spin the tires real easy, unlike my 'tour, though the handling sucks (even scares me if I drive it even close to how I drive my car).

New Mustang V6 is 200HP... I dont think the HP changed at all from the 94-95 V6's to the 96-98 V6's... I know the GT motor obviously went from the 5.0 to the 4.6 in the 95-96 change, but I dont believe the V6's did... But I was under the impression that the 94-95 V6 had 140 or 145 HP... Dont think it had 150+... I just know that when my SVT was stock, I made new V6's look stupid... I also know that the older body style are a lot slower than the 99+... So Im gonna say 4banger ATX Contour (1), V6 Mustang (0)...
