Odd little problem. Hopefully someone can suggest a solution. When I turned on the stock stereo on my 99 CSVT today, I noticed that both the front and back driver's side speakers weren't working. When I shift the balance over, all I get from them is a barely audible scratch.

What could cause both speakers to go? Connection? If so, where might I look?

Thanks!

Both the pass side speakers stopped working on the 1998 mercury mystique I just traded. The connectors on the speakers were loose, so I took the doors apart and tightned them up. The next week they stopped working again. I re tightned them and they still would not work. Basically I had to replace them. After that they worked for 18 months and to the best of my knowledge they still work. The Ford factory speakers are pretty decent in SVT cars since they have the premium system. I would go to the dealer and get new ones. They are easier to install since they plug into the factory harness, and they will match your other speakers. The pass side door panels are easy to take out. There are only about 6 screws around the outside of the panel, two on the panel, and maybe two on the door handle. Don't forget to remove the one behind the cover on the defroster up by the mirror.
