I have a 98 se duratech with about 55K and I want to get the tranny flushed. How many quarts of fluid will I need and I think I am going to go synthetic. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments before I go ahead with this. thanks

I just replaced my tranny fluid. It took 4quarts.

NOOOOOOO!!!!!! If you're talking about a machine flush with a automatic transmission flush machine, 4 quart is NOT enough. Every machine is different, the one I used need 14 quart of fluid to do a flush. And if you ask me, I wouldn't do anything other than a full machine flush that replace 99% of the fluid.

My dealership does an ATX Service with 7 quarts of ATX Oil.

They ripped you off with one (maybe two) drain and fills then. CD4E holds more than 7 quart.

They don't do the drain and fill.
They have a machine that connects to the cooling lines.

They didn't use enough fluid then. A flush needs more fluid than the tranny's capacity to flush out the old fluid from the inside. The machine we used requires at least 14 quart of tranny fluid, more if the tranny has a bigger capacity. Too bad the company doesn't let us do full flushes anymore though.
