I replaced the corroded battery terminals, I replaced the corroded battery tie down assembly, and filled the battery with water. Took it down to the Autozone. They checked the battery and the alternator, everything is ok, the battery is good, and the alternator under load at 2000-2500 rpms was fine.

But the battery lights flashes when I accelerate from 4k to 6.5k.

Any help, voltage regulator?

I have 95k miles on original battery and alternator.

Indy, I think we must be driving the same cars or something!!! Same mods, and now the same problem!!!! My alternator went completely dead, so I pulled it and replaced the brushes, but not the regualtor since the shop didnt have one in stock i took my chances that it was only the brush that was my problem... anyways, now that I have new brushes, my light still comes on at about 4000-4500. Next up for me I think is replacing the regulator, then finally a new alternator! frown Ill keep you informed of my progress/solution. Later.... -Nick

The voltage regulator is built into the alternator so it is not usually serviced seperately.

However, RPM related failure at exactly the same speed is nearly always from failure of the alternator rotor. You will need to replace the alternator, or stay under 4500 RPM (just joking).

T-20 or T-25 bit should fit the 4 screws holding the regulator in place.

It probably didn't help that I competed in IASCA and while all those 1st place trophies were nice at the time, including a trophy at the World Finals, no I am going to have to pay for it.

Sometimes I would draw 80 amps continuous upto 120 amps peak draw. I guess the alternator need help.

Thanks for the part number.

I've got a good used alternator for sale if either of you guys is interested rather than buying the parts or a new (reman) alternator. Drop me a PM or email.

Thanks,
Rick
