Question:
Will it cost me anymore later if I keep driving on a faulty automatic Transmission if I suspect it's just going to have to be rebuilt anyway?

It's already been rebuilt once (40K miles ago) - (See my other recent post). It has 100k miles now and I'm debating whether or not to even bother getting it fixed - again - for $2000 or just buy a used car for that much.

I can drive it now; doesn't shift into 2nd until about 4000rpm,and then, sometimes, only if I 'bumped' the gas.
Doesn't go into third at all, but I can go about 60mph at about 3500 rpm (granted, I won't be doing much Hwy. driving).

What do you think?
1) Drive it out, until I'm Found On Road Dead? and get it rebuilt later.
2) Scrap it since the atx has already been rebuilt once?
3) Get it rebuilt now in the hopes of getting another 40k miles out of it?

Thanks for your help.

Since it has 100,000 miles on it, I would rebuilt it again. I don't see why not. If the car has about 160,000 miles and it has a $hitty body, I would scrap it. Since the body is in good condition, I would say go for it. If I were you, I wouldn't drive the car. Maybe around town, but long distances, no. You'll probably mess it up even more.

I could take that sooo into the gutter.

I hope a little humor helps, because that's all I can offer. Well and this, the cheapest car to drive is typically the one you already own. That and try a good independent transmission shop.
