maybe it doesn't make much difference, but i would say get a 'new' tranny as opposed to letting someone rebuild the old one...

my atx went out at 89k last jan....had it replaced by ford misdealer with 'new' remanufactured atx..so far im up to 103.6 thousand miles now...

somewhere i read when researching buying a contour in 2001 that a good portion of cd4e's were junk from the factory and many people had problems with them as soon as the cars were bought...instead of any adjustments or anything like that, ford just opted to replace the atx's with brand new ones altogether
