When installing the B&M shifer, I was lazy and didn't want to remove the center console, and realized later that if you want to remove the centering spring, you must be able to pull out the pivot shaft. Well, the retaining clip that is holding the shaft holds the pivot shaft only has 3 little plastic pieces left after breaking the rest trying to remove it. My question is can I leave the spring in, although it is not attached or will it cause future problems? Thank you
