Actually, (and I'm sure that's what he meant) "b" should read "the shifter is NOT for an SVT Focus." Assuming it uses a different shifter (and I also think it does as well).

While I'm at it (sorry Stazi), "a" applies to all pre-98 trannies.

Let's reivew boys and girls:
You should be fine as long as you have a 98+ Contour and the shifter isn't for the SVTF. The Steeda stands out as the notable exception I know about (and can be used with additional modifications).
