Since the cold weather started, my car has been exhibiting what I thought was the much-acclaimed "moose"--a roaring from under the hood, sounding like from the intake system, and a bouncy idle (and occasional stall). It would go away, usually, when the car warmed up. Took the car to the dealer (still under warranty (the car, not the dealer)), who advises that it's the power steering pump (and that it will be a day or two to find the parts--are our cars becoming rare already?). Does this diagnosis make sense to those of you with mechanical knowledge (or, for that matter for those without)? Just wondering whether a failing pump can make that kind of noise.
