It's a lotta camera.. do you have any idea how hard it is to get a pic of Albert (with my old Kodak DC290) when he is racing ??? I figure that camera body.. the 500mm, 70-300mm and a wideangle lens ....and I can get anything

Last season I was lucky to get a pic of his tail end !! the DC290 is a great little camera but I need a better one now.. and since the tax man was sooo generous last year and will be so again soon.. I figure why not... it will cover body and lenses, Microdrives... and insurance !!! I'm almost tempted to hang out for the new 11million pixel one tho.. oh temptation.. what's a girl to do

Hi Missy, www.dpreview.com has the lowdown on all of the digital cameras ever made. I work at NASA in Houston and we use higher end Kodak DCS760 cameras. We were impressed with Fuji's S2 when the rep came down to let us play with it. It has very good color rendition duplication. You already know what the camera can do but it might not be fast enough for you to capture a car haulin' butt on the course. It has a very slow per frame rate and buffer rate. You might consider a Nikon DIH or a Kodak DCS720 or 620x(used). They have very fast per frame rate and high buffer memory. You can blow off 10-15 frames without having to wait for the camera to write the images to the microdrive.
if you want to PM me, I'll be glad to go into more detail.

Thanks for the info, much as I love Mirko he isn't the only thing I want to take pics of... ( If you are looking...sorry Albert !! hehe) unless of course he's going to get me a Media Pass this season in which case ....Albert I wub you

I've been watching the camera since last year... they said it was due to be released in July and never came across.. and now that it's out no one seems to have one I can actually pick up and play with.

I'll just keep sitting on my money till I can get my grubby mitts on a few models to play with.. by then this years Tax Rebate should be through and I might be able to move up a price bracket without Fazed crying over lost Coug Mods At this point I have about 5k to play with for body and lenses.. (about $7 1/2 after next rebate) so if you have any recommendations in that range .. I'm all ears. The S2 Pros seemed to be have the best features overall so far in the range I was looking at.. but I'll check out the others you mentioned too . thanks DavidD

What's interesting is that the Nikon D100 and the S2 are Very similar, with the Fuji costing a few hundred more. Fuji has a unique dual battery type system. One type is for camera drive, other is for the electronics.
Missy, the bottom line you have to ask yourself are two or three questions.
1)What am I going to do with the images? Digital presentations or make huge prints?
2)How big do the camera files need to be? Do you really need S2 pixel interpolation or are 8mb ok?
3)How much do you want to spend?
You surely have the money. Don't forget and the image multiplication, 1.5x. If you want a wide lens you have to go extra wide to get the same effect. You need a 17 to look like a 24. Upside is a 200 becomes a 300
We just ordered 4 new Kodak 14N bodies. It'll produce 40mb files
I can' wait until February

Whatever it takes to get the camera I want.. within reason .. it all depends on whats on offer

I'm not too worried about the wideangle issue and the extra zoom is a bonus

You've answered all of the qestions properly, what are you waiting for? Just go out and buy the thing If you wait, something else is going to be announced and you wait some more.
We buy all of our digital cameras from Imaging Spectrum in dallas. They have a website, www.imagingspectrum.com
They also have used stuff as well.
Good Luck.
