Not a particular Neon fan but it is hard to deny that the SRT version will not completely upset the applecart in bang for buck performance. Thing makes (stock) over 220 HP to the wheels!! To those that argue Mustang GT...it makes about 235 to the wheels but weighs about 3400 lbs compared with the Neons 2800. Thats right, we have a new under 20K power to weight champion (including poney cars). Thing is a bit slower through the 1/4th (about 14.0 at 100 vs maybe high 1s3)...BUT I suspect that is the FWD handicap. I would bet based on power to weight that from a second gear roll the Neon would take the Stang. And it gets even better..they put low CR pistons, beefed the internals and put an intercooler the size of New Jersey on that thing...thats right, just add more boost and you will kill all but the most built or FI Mustangs. Basically, cheap modability will go to the Neon bigtime.

Handling should be at least equal to the poney cars, brakes are pretty decent..no major weak areas in performance. I think CSVT will be a match in handling but will have to take consolation from the fact that it sounds better, smoother, revs higher, looks better. But they need a sign on them saying : (WARNING! Do NOT race without forced induction)...

"don't need to drive it to know that its still a ghey a$$ neon,no matter what it does...its still an ugly a$$ neon period...." Some would also say that about the SVT Contour or any souped up Contour.
