I can put the HU from my Focus in an 89 Mustang, but I'm not sure about the contour to a ranger. It would depend on weather it's a premium sound unit or a base unit. The PS units need the external amplifier as they have no internal amplifier. Only the base cassette player has it's own amplifier in the Contour. He might be SOL unless he has that tape player, or has the external amplifier.
