The Monaro is due for a redesign anyway, now they are doing so that it meets US crash specs as well as the Aussie ones. Then to meet emissions laws, they are putting in an existing engine. So now, they have a 2 door rwd 2+2 coupe.
See, GM has a hole in th linup now, because the Camaro and Firebird/Trans-am are gone.
What would ford hope to gain by bringing the falcon over? A 2 dr rwd 2+2 coupe w/ some decent power? hmm, i think they already have one of those, and its soon to be on a redisigned platform as well.
I like the falcon (especially the hot versions) as much as anyone else, but I also understand why it isn't here.
