I just punched in your numbers at Edmunds.com and as a rough 96 SE with 141K:

Average Trade: $899
Average Private Party: $1438
Average Retail: $2197

And given the glut of used cars after 0% financing, I'd say those are optomistic numbers.

You are about 210 miles from my house and if you decide you can't get the $3K you want, send me some e-mail with pics and we can talk about me buying the car for about $1K.
