I guess I'm really pissed off at the fact that it broke in the first place...it was only a few months old. Plus I can't even get a response from OBX, regarding the warranty of their products...I sent them an email and called them on the phone...still waiting for a response...

There should be a one year warranty for their shifters, according to Markus I believe!

There was a group of defective B&M shifters that were installed in the 2000 ZX2 S/R. After the car became warm the ball would jam in the shifter and make shifting extremely difficult.

Mine jammed 3 days after buying the car. Fortunately my dealer was smart enough to install a stock shifter until the replacement B&M was delivered 2.5 months later.

I don't know if the Zetec powered Contour and the Zx2 use the same shifter. i suspect not. I think the Contour has the MTX-75 transmission and the ZX2 has the mazda G5M unit.

However, if anyone has a B&M short shifter that is hard to shift it may be worth checking the fit of the shifter ball.

Mine broke about 2 weeks ago in mid shift, leaving me stuck in the middle of nowhere. I only had a few thousand miles on it. Same thing as the others....the ball linkage snapped off. It may be easy to fix with a ball stud, but it shouldnt have broke in the first place. Very cheap.

DNE-Does not exist.

Although some people have adapted aftermarket shifter knobs to fit the Contour.

In any case you can get "quickshifters" for ATX cars unles you have a muscle car and want to install a B&M Quickshifter or Starshifter.

I don't think that they would work on a Contour, but who know's. In any case it wouldn't do jack squat for you as you aren't running some Big Block V8 with Turbo 500 trans, which would warrant a quickshifter.

If you want your ATX equipped Contour to shifts fast. Look at getting a chip and/or a Level 10 stall converter installed.
