Not sure on this, but you maybe able to visibly check plenum for coolant leaks by removing cabin air filter. Alternatively, removing blower, which is not that difficult, may provide access for smelling if not seeing. Pipe-cleaners sometimes handy for getting swabs for leak detection (or cleaning) purposes in tight access spots.
