Yeah, like you, I'm kind of wary of stops-leak additives. Too many horror-stories over the years about trashed water pumps and such ... And the CSVT's have enough water-pump "issues" as it is.
Can you suggest a non-additive-based diagnostic for determining if the heater core IS the source of the leak?
