'96 V-6 leaking fresh oil somewhere from front of motor. Not the filter. Seems to be coming from somewhere above the filter and more towards the drivers's side of the motor. Cannot see source from above either. Any idea where it is coming from? Leaving a good size puddle plus drips on exhaust manifold and thus stinks up things.

Still might be the filter. I had a similar problem, retightened the filter and the leak went away.
It seemed like the oil was "climbing" the block and then flowing/spraying downward onto the exhaust manifold. The bottom end of the filter was surprisingly not wet with oil.

I don't know about the 6 cylynder, but my 4 cylynder is leaking oil from the valve cover gasket and it manages to drip on the exhaust manifold as well. There is almost a 1/2" of oil around the spark plugs down in their well!

My old 2.5 did that (probably a contributing factor to losing the motor). My new one is leaking oil from the valve cover gaskets as well. Not a lot, but I have to get on top of that before it gets too bad. Not that uncommon from what I gather.

Mine was leaking from the front valve cover. Someone did a half monkey job when putting the gasket on, and part of it didn't sit properly. Micah helped me fix it last year.

Points to note:- In the SVT set up with the oil cooler/heater behind the oil filter you can, if the filters are overtightened, cause the seal between the cooler & the block to fail. The cooler has an 'O' ring seal between it and the block with a throu bolt to which the filter screws onto....with care in this area...! .When you remove an overtight filter you can loosen off the cooler seal! wink
