Not necessarily ... he says that he has an MTX, not ATX. They could rebuild the entire transmission and if they overlook a worn clutch and don't replace it, this could be the end result. IF you do have a manual, it sounds like your clutch is slipping and/or not fully engaging. I suggest like the others and take it back to the shop that did the work. Get the tech that did the work in the car and go for a spin. When you replicate the problem, look at him and say "It didn't do this before I gave the car to you!" ... go from there.
