Well my car let me down AGAIN!!! I was on my way to school when I looked at the temp guage and it was maxed! So i pull over to the edge of the highway as fast as I can and shut off my car. I pop the hood and there was antifreeze everywhere under the hood. So a long story short I found out that my antifreeze is not flowing, so I took it to ford I hope they dont bend me over for the cost of fixing my car. (but we all know they will )

Would the water pump send anti freeze every where under the hood? Maybe he'll be lucky and it will only be a hose. Given that he has some pretty high mileage IIRC then that wouldn't to unlikely.

It could be the pump since the failure of the pump would cause the temperature to rise, causing the antifreeze to overflow from expansion. An easy and relatively cheap fix if caught in time...about an hour of labour plus the part.

Good luck FastDad!

It is probably the pump. Same thing happened to me when mine went. Antifreeze was coming out of the overflow and going everywhere. Made some really nice white smoke though .

It's unanimous. Without even looking at the car, we all agree it's probably the water pump. Happened to me last spring on a Saturday morning in Flesherton, Ontario. Car stayed at Boyd Bros. Ford (very small dealership) until Monday for the T-stat. Found that the T-stat wasn't the problem, it was the WP. Finally got the car back on the Wednesday. Broke again next week. Turns out they installed a rebuilt water pump.

I borrowed the 'rents car for the week.

In all, I had 3 more NEW Ford pumps installed over last spring/summer (4 replacements in all). I bought more Prestone than any individual in Ontario last year.

Bottom line: If it isn't under warranty, get an aftermarket water pump.

Your best bet is to get the part number of a water pump with a metal impeller.
(SP motersport has it)
Find out what it is and order it somewhere in Canada. Do not buy the ford
replacement pump because it comes with a plastic impeller. Unless it's to
late, get the pump and install it your self. When my water pump went on me,
the dealer wanted 285 (US) on top the the inspection fee. My buddy did it in
one hour and it only cot me the price of the new pump and case of beer.

i replaced my original water pump at 170k tinking i cheated time long enough. To my suprise, it was the new one with the white impellar.

For the price of replacement, i considered myself a stupid for not doing it earlier even though nothing happened.
