You're going to be looking at that amount if you replace it before it breaks anyway. So why not just have some fun and break some stuff before you shell out the same money for the aftermartet stuff?
Because if you replace your current tranny with a new one then you can still sell your old one to cover teh cost of the 2nd one you bought. I bought a 2002 MTX-75 for $650 and sold my old post 2000 for $650 and avoided a lot of down time by having mine upgraded. When it was all said and done I paid $1350 for my HMS trans with a Quaife and zetec FD ratio.
