Last night I noticed my rear driver side window was down about a quarter of an inch. I tried putting it up, but neither the driver control nor the rear door control will move the window. I can't push the window up either. All of the other windows are fine. Does each window have its own fuse or something? I would like to avoid taking my car to the dealer, they have been nothing but trouble for me since I got my car. (I'm still trying to get them to repair the scratches they put on my car when I had it in the body shop). So, if all I need to do is change a fuse, I would just as soon do it myself. So does anybody know if each window has its own fuse that might have blown?

I had a similar problem on the rear passenger side, except the window had been completely lowered and later it did not go up. The passenger door button nor the drivers' side button would work. I went to a auto glass shop and they took everything apart and found out the mechanism that keeps the window on the sliding track was partially of track and was jamming up so the motor was stuck in a the given position. I thought the motor had burned up but it was not. They refastened the window to the track and everything works fine. It cost me only $35. After looking at what they did, it would have been difficult for me to duplicate the work by myself so I was glad I took the vehicle to a local auto glass shop. I am sure the dealer would have taken me to the cleaners cause they do not let you see the repairs going on and you would be in the dark at the mercy of the service advisor.

Well, its still under warranty, so I'm not worried about the cost. But it doesn't sound like the motor is even trying to work. I'll check the fuses tonight, if they are good, I guess I'll have to take it in to the shop.

There is a small connector on the motor, that could have come loose. Does anything else work on that door? Power locks and stereo for example? If those don't, check the electrical connection from the door to the b-pillar. Do the lights in the window switch light up? If the switch is removed from the circuit, it won't let the driver or that door control the window. Just a few thoughts.

I checked the fuses this weekend. The fuse box turns out to be under the hood. Not only that, I had a terrible time trying to actually get the lid of the thing off. They've really got it crammed in there. Nothing in the owners manual says anything about the power windows being on any of the fuses (nothing that I could find anyway), but all of the fuses I could check looked good anyway. The power door locks work and the window switch lights up. I guess I'll just take it in and let you know what the dealer says.

This used to happen in my old 626 and it was always just dirty contacts in the switch! Just another possibilty.

HighPoweredKaufman ,
There IS a FUSE BOX under your dash, just to the left of the Steering wheel, with a button on the RH side of the Black Box.
When you push the button, the Black Box drops open and exposes the fuses.
Did you not read Terry's post ???

I read his post, but not until this morning. I will check under the dash when I get home from work. The owner's manual didn't mention the fuses under the dash, just the ones under the hood (I probably just looked in the wrong section). I will look tonight. Before now I haven't had a need to stick my face down there so I've never seen the fuse box that is down there (and it never occured to me there might be more than one set after I found the ones in the engine compartment). So, hopefully I can avoid a trip to the shop after all. Thanks!

Okay, found the other fuse box (guess I should have turned the page in the owner's manual). But, all the fuses are fine. I had a feeling they would be since it is only one window that doesn't want to move. I'll see what the dealer says it is.
