haha, yeah we were going to race around this one island, but luckily decided to scope out the area first, didnt think it would be the best idea to drive over that crack.
the WAG (wisconsin autosports group) runs these races in Hutisford, Wisconsin, about 45 minutes northwest of Milwaukee. The ice was around 9-10" thick sunday, wich is more than enough to hold a semi. We had 70 or so cars in the grid area on the ice, you can constantly hear the ice crack beneath you, so its a little freaky, but you get used to it.
thinkmoto- theres usaully another 323gtx that runs the ice races, i think he was there sunday as well.
i drag raced my friend (turbo'd 2.5rs) we were both on all seasons, a 2.2L Impreza on snow tires owned us both, so snow tires make a big difference out there, I just can justify buying them, because you rarely need them on the street. AWD helps a ton though, I drag raced a friends front drive crx si on snows, and it wasnt even close. there were some front drive cars out there on all seasons, if you go just for fun, and dont mind not being competitive in your class, its a good time. and justin, they have a 4x4 class too. the best part is watching the cars on studded ice tires, in two of my pics you can see a TAD Lancer Evo 5 SCCA ProRally car, that thing is just amazing.
the next event is right around the corner, WAG Homepage
if your interested check it out!
