Call me stupid, but I have a question. Seeing how I haven't torn the short block apart yet, and yours is there. On the bottom left & right, looks like the 'bottom of the block' if you will. How does it mount? Is the crank 'sandwiched' between the 'top & bottom' of the block? Also the two parts look the same???  Originally posted by Buckshot77:

You are correct there are two of the bottom end pieces there since I've got two engines that I'm working on simultaneously. The crank is sandwiched between the upper and ower portion of the block and is held in place by 22 bolts IIRC. 16 of those bolts are torque to yield and need replaced (the main bearing bolts).

Tell me this if from your first dyno when they ran it lean and it grenaded...
...or did something else happen since then?

Be sure to post your P&P 3L heads pics too when you get them. Then you can truely say "here's something you don't see every day".  BTW, don't throw those pistons away. A little welding and a buffer wheel and they'll be good as new.  Actually, I have an idea for an award for SZ and/or the national meet...
