you're not the only one. my car is like a rock until it gets some revs up (no tach). unless it's having a good day, my car is very slow off the line, though everyone once in a while it'll jump on up.
Mine runs the same way.

That's just your VTEC kicking in. It's perfectly normal...3500 is where it turns on...
<Disclaimer>No, I'm not serious...This post was a joke.

I wouldn't go as far to say mine is like a rock. It get's up off the line pretty fast for a 4. Only when it gets low on fuel does it perform badly from a stop.

haha I was in my first day of class yesterday . First class of the day was auto shop oreintation. One guy has a turbo focus and another wiht a turbo civc. Then a guy running 13.9 n/a in an integra, but its stripped. Anyways the kid in the focus mentioned he hit 13's and some kid was like well its a zetec thats just like v-tec. Bam!! he got smacked down as I busted the theory of v-tech vs vct vs normal zetec meaning "bliss" funny thing is that when i started to correct him and started my phrase about vct he was like oh yeah thats it, I furthermore went on to correct him more. Ahh I can see this will be a fun degree 4 dynos and my 3.0 in the se is almost done !!!!

I don't think mine has a "kick" I even watched the vid I made to see if I could discern anything. Guess on the way home tonight I need to be more vigilant and report back...

hey old man..... yes you darrel.... get into your car at the first red light get her to about 2000 RPM let the clutch out (no I don't mean dump the clutch) and floor it take her to about 6-7K shift floor it again all they way to 6-7k and shift again.... keep doing this till either: A: cops pull you over for speeding B: you run over an old lady in the desert C: you rear end another car D: you flip the car cause you can't drive
2003 Subaru WRX some mods
Even if you don't have the answer, you certainly have to admire the problem.

I have noticed this also. under heavy acceleration the car seems to pull really hard after 3500 rpm, the engine is great when in the right gear to use the power band

come to think of it, even with ATX, third gear and around 3500rpm is the sweet spot. i'll just be cruising and then down shift, it'll hit that sweet spot and my (just resonator less) exhaust will sound like a full exhaust, i love it when that happens. right now though, i think my bad pullies are making me lose some power. not to mention i have every tool i own in the back seat right now.

My favorite: On the highway, cruising about 60-65, then just flooring it. (Being stuck with the slush box, it automatically downshifts to 3), and you're off. That's where the pull is at!
