Maybe I'm overly sensitive but lack of personal accountability like this drives me up a wall.
I screwed up so I'm going to complain until someone else fixes it for me.
Take that garbage to clarkhoward.com or planetfeedback.com. The competitive whiners on those sites will probably pander to your woe-as-me, life's-unfair, look-at-what-this-big- corporation-did-to-me-the-lowly-and-pious consumer-who-has-been-wronged-so-egregiously-I-deserve-a gajillion-dollars-for-my-pain-and-suffering attitude :p

Most likely, while doing the work to replace the PVC hose you bungled something up in the throttle or cruise cable retainers or brackets causing one of them to jam open during normal driving. Go ahead, blame it on the car this time. We know the throttle cable works and know who really was at fault... (hint: wasn't Ford)
Also, might check into payoff protection on your next car loan. Covers you for full payoff should the car become totalled in an accident. Something available now in many states is full new car purchase price reimbursement insurance for up to 3 years no matter what the value of the car becomes within those 3 years.

Actually this just happen to me 2 day ago I was doing 70mph (cruise control on ) then I accelerated to pass a truck and the trottle body got stucked at WOT. I turn off the CC but the car keep going faster, I applied the brakes but the car wasn't stoping at all, then I try to pull back the accelerator with my foot but nothing happened, so I puted it on neutral aplyied the brakes (MTX) and the rpms where going up to 6500, then turn off the car and pull over. This was done on like 30 seconds. I opened the hood and I started checking the engine bay. I thouched the spring on the trottle body and is snaped right back. I got home and checked averything again but everything was ok.
I think was the long trip that caused the TB to get stuck 5hrs driving.
I researched the problem and the only car that has this problem was the Mecury Grand Marquis. TB getting stuck while using Cruise contol, (CC) but I do not hate my car actually, I love the damm thing more every day.

last post is most interesting, re:CC hanging, poss. freaking into accel mode. The orig. topic poster gave us no info if CC was present or on (I doubt if it was but who knows). This is interesting, COBM. Perhaps the CC can cause a problem like this. If so I will remove it ASAP. Good point.
98 CSVT, basic mod's, my slowest car yet but still faster than the wife's Talon Tsi AWD. Not by much, though. Now if I could get the back wheels to do something....

What year? Most of the Ford cruise controls previous to the Contour use vacuum to pull a diaphragm that pulls the throttle open. They also have a valve on the brake pedal which dumps the vacuum when you step on it, closing the throttle. Brian Originally posted by COBM:

Any small foreign object dropped in the throttle can cause the idle to increase really high. My experience was on my 1987 Accord it had a carb. One day I was removing the screen that sits on top of the carb I guess it was an extra filteration but one of the tiny pieces from the sceen fell in the carb and it later caused my car to idle really high up to 4000 rpm. Currently I drive a 96 Contour 2.5 V6 atx and I like my car bought it brand new in 1996.

I would actually get more by totaling it then selling it..mmm Maybe Buckshot could race my car for me so I can new one
